Okay, so we are all guilty of it: overindulging. Holidays can be a challenge, but so can the warm summer months of patio season, BBQs, weddings and more! It seems like there is always an occasion to have a cocktail, treat yourself to a couple of appetizers or simply exercise less.
The question is: how do we get back on track?
In order to reset the body’s natural healthy patterns (assuming you’re already in a health routine during the week), you need a 24 hr plan. It’s simple too.
The 1 day reset plan
Start your day with lemon water
Use 1/2 lemon squeezed in room temperature filtered water to wake up your digestive system and better clear out yesterday’s toxins.
Have a green breakfast shake
Add a handful of spinach, kale, or your favourite greens powder to help boost your detox pathways and keep energy up.
Sip on liquids
Unlimited water & herbal teas (iced are great too!) all day long. Remember: half of your body weight (in lbs.) is how many ounces of fluid you need per day. Aim for at least that amount during the 1 day reset!
Lunch & dinner made easy
Pick a lean protein (salmon, chicken, turkey, chickpeas, etc.) and fill the rest of your plate with the veggies of your choice. Dress with olive oil, lemon, fresh pepper and a pinch of sea salt.
At least 15 minutes of moderate activity to get your circulation going and boost your metabolism. Everyone has time for 15 minutes. If you want to take it to the next level, add 10 minutes in the steam room or sauna.
Get to bed
Early, that is. Aim for at least 8 hours of rest when you’re trying to reset the body and improve your digestive & liver function.
